More

Dash is a big boy now and is munching on solids and drinking out of cups and water bottles.  Not saying we're perfect, but he impresses me with his skills sometimes.  When he gets excited, he sometimes sucks in to make noises.  Why he decided this accurately portrayed his enthusiasm  I'm not sure.  Here he is getting excited about some chicken and rice.

Dash told a joke

and cracked himself up
...it wasn't that funny.  :)

2 videos for you

Jamba's tail hit the spinning rattle on Dash's toy and she turned around to attack it.  It looks like she's boxing to me so it made me laugh.  Needs some Rocky music in the background.

And here's Dash gabbing and playing with is ball.

4th month

Recap of Dash's fourth month of life.

practicing smiles

Got dressed up for a Christmas party.

made a new friend
we don't use the Bumbo a whole lot, so he always kind of looks surprised when he's in it.

He has some hair growing in...still not sure what color it is.
His eyelashes are getting long.
He sits up very well, with pretty good head control.
He's reaching and grabbing and trying to put everything in his mouth when his fingers aren't in there.
He grabs things, using his index and middle finger to hold them (instead of a thumb and index finger like everyone else)
Interacts with himself in the mirror.
Did his first deep laugh.
Enjoys baths, books, mirrors, slobbering, and eating.
Sometimes he likes tummy time, when he asks to be rolled over.
He can roll from his back onto his side and balance there.  Hasn't made it the whole way over yet.
Has learned that screaming and loud high-pitched noise is fun, both when happy and sad.

1 day old and the kid's got skills.

He can also toot like a grown man; with power and gumption. :)  I unfortunately do not have a video or sound bite of this yet.  If you meet him in person, I'm sure it won't be long until you experience it first hand.

We sure are proud parents! haha

Thus far

I've been sitting for the last 4 hours at my first yard sale. First that I've taken part in as an adult and that I remember.

Luckily, the weather's been perfect. Our driveway is still partially shaded and the gentle breeze is wonderful. I've been listening to birds chirp as they chase each other and I've watched the yellow balloon tangle and untangle itself from around our mailbox as it is slowly deflating from the sun. The sky is a beautiful blue (made possible by low humidity) and the field of yellow wild flowers (weeds) across the street gives you something to stare off into.

I've waved, smiled, and said hello to many a passing car and driver as they slow down to survey the treasures I rounded up last night (and just so happen to neatly fit on one folding table).

I've only had 3 people get out of their cars and walk up. One woman commented that I had good things, but she was looking for baby items. Yup, not gonna find that at my table. She seemed certain that I would be able to sell my things, but still 4 hours later, here I sit withnot a thing gone :).

I have enjoyed the morning though. It's kind of nice to just sit outside with your thoughts (or mindless Internet surfing and blog reading). I don't get to do that so much -especially during the work week. Dash is out here chilling with me because I made him. If he has (been blessed?)Bryce's personality, he's hating me right now and that's why he's been punching and kicking so much this morning. I've been playing it off like he really just wants to be outside my belly to enjoy this beautiful weather and play with us.

2 more hours to go and everything will be driven to Goodwill and donated. This yard sale helped me clear out a few things and get them out of the house instead of out of hiding and then placed on the floor in a meaningless pile. So, i will not allow them to go back in. That's another positive out of this. Maybe Bryce will make me Mac n cheese for lunch and bring it to me. That would make 3 positives and it hasn't cost me a thing. It hasn't earned me anything either...

"I need a new suitcase definitely"

I have recordings from the Ellen Show dating back a year...I've slowly been working my way through them and I found some clips I had to share - you've probably seen them, but they make me laugh every time.

Then the shopping spree Nicki sent them on:

...and Ellen brings them back for more:

Ellen does have the funniest kids on her show.  I thought about one from a long time ago and wanted to see if I could find a clip of him - and I did!

Not on The Ellen Show but awesome.  Anne Hathaway rapping "In the style of lil' Wayne."

Ice + BMW = Fire

Been watching the news and weather/road updates this morning due to the ice storm that moved through. (see this post.)  My favorite story of the day is the man in the orange hat who lost traction and spun his wheels so hard for so long he caught his 5 series BMW on fire.  The news man telling the story was awesome, both Bryce and I were chuckling from what he was saying.  And to top it off, while they're filming, a car drives by and its windows are still completely covered with snow - they didn't bother wiping anything off their car before driving. Smart. People in Georgia just don't know what to do with winter precipitation.  The audio starts in at the 2:30 point.

Every day is the start of a new year.

I usually don't even think about making resolutions, but I think I may make some goals this year...stay tuned and see what they turn out to be.

This video was entertaining enough and thought provoking.  You don't have to wait for New Year's to decide to make changes.

It reminds me of the man on the street video I like about Thanksgiving.

In searching for Waldo did we really find ourselves? No, probably not.

Warner Herzog reads childrens' books - unlike anyone else.

CLICK THE POST TITLE for Where's Waldo.  Below the video on this link you'll see Curious George and Madeline if you need more. :)

Enjoy!

Your Birthday Present is in the trunk

Dylan had his brithday! so we decided to go crash it, say hello, and give him a little celebratory present. As we started into their neighborhood we spotted a snapping turtle crossing the road. I stopped to avoid hitting it and Bryce decided it would be great to pick it up and take it with us to the party. What turtle doesn't enjoy a cupcake once in a while?! So, we picked him up. I apparently really stink at taking videos on my camera, because I had Dylan jumping around the car yelling about how big the turtle was an being excited about the fact that there was a snapping turtle in my car's trunk...his friends enjoyed it as well...You can see Dylan next to the turtle at the start of one video and then you can hear kids (while watching a very sickening, motion sickness inducing picture) telling each other to put their head by the turtle's mouth and to poke it.Also, for those of you who don't know how to catch a snapping turtle, we have included a video of Bryce demonstrating this without spilling one drop of his soda. :)

I'll stand by you

One, I like this song, two it's neat how they took different street performers from around the world and compiled it together. "Stand By Me"

Blah, Blah, Blah

I feel like my blog is pretty boring. It's ok though, I don't really expect people to get much entertainment value out of it, just updates in our repetitious life. I was unloading my camera and found another video of Jamba and also realized that I have not shared the newest purchase of ours - a little dinet set. Be entertained. Only the first 20 seconds is worth anything in this video and don't worry - we did disinfect the spout.

We found the table and chairs on pretty decent sale and the quality is much better than what we had been seeing so we snatched 'em while they were hot. I just realized that sentence kind of made it sound like we got them hot, like stolen or on the black market. Be assured, I do not shop those sales. :) Jamba also loved my tulips. In a matter of a few days the leaves were pretty much shredded and then eaten. Luckily, I was able to enjoy the flowers for a week before throwing them away. I will say that I knew before bringing the flowers home that the green foliage would not last long. Anything green and growing will be attacked by Jamba. She is a freak for some lettuce and spinach, grass, and now tulip leaves. Mmmmm. What a healthy cat!

Fun with Jamba

Jamba always finds something to make us think once again that we are lucky we got her for our pet instead of another sad, homeless kitten. She loves to knock things off counters, cell phones, tupperware, papers...don't leave them on the counter. It's the same thing with the garbage disposal. If you put something in or near the sink she will put it down the garbage disposal, but only after playing with it. :) Here's an example with some ice I threw in the sink to melt there instead of on the floor. The good stuff's toward the middle when she gets fast. This will ususally go on for a while and then once the item is down the garbage disposal she sits at the edge of the sink and just stares. Literally for an hour or more, she will sit looking down the sink. She also tried to stow away to Utah with us, but I caught her trying to hide in Bryce's carry on. I apologize again for the crazy eyes...cats are not made for flash photography.

Go Blue Knight!

We're still high from the time traveling. :)
Happy 2 year anniversary (August 19th) to us!!! We took the opportunity to experience the Medieval Times first hand. It was actually pretty cool. You're assigned a crown color as you go in and that color is the knight you cheer for. Go Blue Knight! He lost. The whole place is very well done to take you back in time. The people dress and talk like the history books tell us they would've. Their bathrooms were neat too - I love it when places work bathrooms into their themes! They had a really neat falcon that did its flying tricks and then the food comes and the knights do jousting games and then as the story unravels they joust each other in a competition to the death. Intense. We were lucky enough to take Lindsey and Dylan, a niece and nephew, with us since they gave us a free child's meal/admission with each paid adult. Fun was had, time was traveled, memories were made. :) cue pictures...

I look elvin in this picture...it's pretty bad of both of us, but at least we weren't trying to look hot.

Dylan was into the show and his food! He ate most of it which is a good amount and even ate Lindsey's dessert. They start you out with a vegetable broth soup and garlic bread. Then they bring you half of a baked potato w/ seasonings on it, a full chicken and a rib on the side. You had your choice of pepsi, tea, or water. You situated your cup so you handle stuck out a certain way so they knew what drink to give you. Pretty smart. You eat with your hands. They did print the menu on a small napkin and brought around wet naps after all the courses. I mean this is 2008 people, not the 15th century.

Lindsey got tossed the flower from our knight. It had some title to go with it, but I can't remember.

As a side not you can pay a little more and get front row seat, a sweet plastic banner in the color of your knight to wave, and they will do a knighting ceremony with you before. They'll also announce your presence if you submit an anniversary, birthday, or some other event you want people to know about... I'm glad we went, I'm not sure we'd take the opportunity to go any other time. It was fun.

Jamba loves it when I go grocery shopping

When I am again reminded that food does not magically appear on empty shelves and after my survival insticts kick in, I am forced to return to a grocery store to go buy food for our cupboards, shelves and stomaches. I will bring home several plastic bags. Plastic makes a cool noise, and as an added bonus the wet ones (from refrigerated and frozen foods) stay on the floor in piles longer since they don't get folded and saved for later. This makes the perfect opportunity for Jamba to have some fun. She enjoys the sound plastic makes and she love to crawl inside of bags. She'll curl up in one and lay there, then attack you (like you couldn't see her in there) and then run inside another bag. She will also come tearing around the corner to pounce on a pile of unsuspecting bags. Occassionally, she'll get her head stuck in one of the handles so the bag makes a cape on her. Pretty awesome looking. Don't worry it's not choking her and she can easily get her head out. This is how she does it.
My camera's batteries died right before she came in and pounced on the pile of bags I assembled again for her at the end. She also demonstrates how she attacks. She MUST wiggle her hind quarters for a few seconds, pause, and wiggle some more. This is when you can be sure she is ready to pounce. :)

New favorite joke

I couldn't upload an audio file so here's a video....WATCH BEFORE CONTINUING!
