2 videos for you

Jamba's tail hit the spinning rattle on Dash's toy and she turned around to attack it.  It looks like she's boxing to me so it made me laugh.  Needs some Rocky music in the background.

And here's Dash gabbing and playing with is ball.

2 yr. Pictures

Memorial Day is how we gauge Jamba's birthday, because it was on Memorial Day 2008 that we "rescued" Jamba and brought her home.  To see her "baby" photos click here!  Here are her 2 year pictures:

The cutest ever!

Blue Steel

High Fashion

Jamba was pooped from the photo shoot.
The light's weird but I like the picture - she was trying to bat at the camera strap.

And a movie for your entertainment: click here! Jamba hates dents in the carpet and she attacks them to smooth them out whenever we move a chair or the coffee table.  I was washing the sheets and chaning the mattress cover when she discovered some dents she couldn't smooth out.  She spent a good 10-20 minutes trying though.  This is the first time I noticed her doing it and grabbed my camera.

At the ripe age of 2 Jamba has become more cuddly and less of a menace.  She still enjoys fetch, tag, and her version of hide and go seek (more like I see you hiding around the corner and I will hunt you down and attack!).  She loves bottle caps and small round items like skittles that slide around easily to chase.  She loves being outside: rolling on the concrete and biting the grass, chasing insects and jumping at low flying birds.  When she can't be otuside she sits in front of windows and just stares for long periods of time.

Sleeping Puma, Hidden Thread

Poor Battle Puma. Jamba got in a fight with a long piece of string. She has learned that the string always wins. Long story short, Jamba found some really nice black thread that looked delicious (and must've been) so she ate a long piece. It ended up getting caught on the back of her tongue, down into her intestine and into her colon. Needless to say she didn't feel well at all and we took her to the vet after a couple vomit episodes. They did an exploratory surgery on her belly and this picture I caught while she was sleeping to show her part of her battle wounds. The shaved leg is especially sexy in the cat world. This was a month or so back so she is back to herself and doing well. Her hair is growing in nicely. :)

Blah, Blah, Blah

I feel like my blog is pretty boring. It's ok though, I don't really expect people to get much entertainment value out of it, just updates in our repetitious life. I was unloading my camera and found another video of Jamba and also realized that I have not shared the newest purchase of ours - a little dinet set. Be entertained. Only the first 20 seconds is worth anything in this video and don't worry - we did disinfect the spout.

We found the table and chairs on pretty decent sale and the quality is much better than what we had been seeing so we snatched 'em while they were hot. I just realized that sentence kind of made it sound like we got them hot, like stolen or on the black market. Be assured, I do not shop those sales. :) Jamba also loved my tulips. In a matter of a few days the leaves were pretty much shredded and then eaten. Luckily, I was able to enjoy the flowers for a week before throwing them away. I will say that I knew before bringing the flowers home that the green foliage would not last long. Anything green and growing will be attacked by Jamba. She is a freak for some lettuce and spinach, grass, and now tulip leaves. Mmmmm. What a healthy cat!

Fun with Jamba

Jamba always finds something to make us think once again that we are lucky we got her for our pet instead of another sad, homeless kitten. She loves to knock things off counters, cell phones, tupperware, papers...don't leave them on the counter. It's the same thing with the garbage disposal. If you put something in or near the sink she will put it down the garbage disposal, but only after playing with it. :) Here's an example with some ice I threw in the sink to melt there instead of on the floor. The good stuff's toward the middle when she gets fast. This will ususally go on for a while and then once the item is down the garbage disposal she sits at the edge of the sink and just stares. Literally for an hour or more, she will sit looking down the sink. She also tried to stow away to Utah with us, but I caught her trying to hide in Bryce's carry on. I apologize again for the crazy eyes...cats are not made for flash photography.

Tree skirt!

I picked the material out a couple years back and my dear mother has made me a tree skirt to enjoy. I got it in the mail yesterday and immediately put it under the tree - as I should. Jamba really likes it and has actually been crawling under the skirt and out the hole in the middle around the base. Great. I had mostly forgotten the fabric I picked, but I'm glad to say that I still like it. My genius mother backed it with a nice white tone on tone fabric so I can switch sides when I get tired of the green and red. Here's another shot of the tree in our green house. :)

Jamba loves it when I go grocery shopping

When I am again reminded that food does not magically appear on empty shelves and after my survival insticts kick in, I am forced to return to a grocery store to go buy food for our cupboards, shelves and stomaches. I will bring home several plastic bags. Plastic makes a cool noise, and as an added bonus the wet ones (from refrigerated and frozen foods) stay on the floor in piles longer since they don't get folded and saved for later. This makes the perfect opportunity for Jamba to have some fun. She enjoys the sound plastic makes and she love to crawl inside of bags. She'll curl up in one and lay there, then attack you (like you couldn't see her in there) and then run inside another bag. She will also come tearing around the corner to pounce on a pile of unsuspecting bags. Occassionally, she'll get her head stuck in one of the handles so the bag makes a cape on her. Pretty awesome looking. Don't worry it's not choking her and she can easily get her head out. This is how she does it.
My camera's batteries died right before she came in and pounced on the pile of bags I assembled again for her at the end. She also demonstrates how she attacks. She MUST wiggle her hind quarters for a few seconds, pause, and wiggle some more. This is when you can be sure she is ready to pounce. :)

Surprise! It's a girl..

Bryce realized how much he really does want a cat and I called a few pet stores, read a few ads online and then dropped it. About 3 hrs later Bryce said, "So, did you find you a kitty?" So I looked again for cats in the Covington area instead of up by Atlanta. Hillbilly Pets. Yes, Hillbilly Pets is the name of the place (I can't say store b/c it was definitely not a store) where we found her with a few other kittens for free. The name is perfect for the place. It was gross. We feel like we saved her, it was so bad. So, now we have a kitty. She's been really good, fun to play with, skittish though b/c it's new. Bryce says she's awesome and talkative. She meows and makes cute little noises when you talk to her, like she's talking back. Pretty cute. We have just named her Jamba.
