GIVE AWAY- SUPER CUTE STUFF!

I just wanted to get the word out on a pretty sweet opportunity for free accessories for children. Dainty couture is going to do a give away on their blog every week until Easter and then probably once a month after that. This week they are giving away something for a girl (they just did it for a boy) so, go and enter if you have a girl or know someone who does. Tell your friends...who doesn't LOVE something for free?! http://thedaintycoutureco.blogspot.com/

It does snow in GA, can you believe it?!

I will say this week and today in particular have been gorgeous and where we should be in temperatures for March. Sunny, nice breeze and in the lower 70's. GORGEOUS! However, one week went freakish on us. We had a week mostly full of rain, then sunny warm, high 70 degree on Friday, and Saturday, then Sunday it decides to sleet, then snow hugh flakes for hours on end. Some areas had almost 10 inches of snow and we had probably 4 down here. Sweet. Monday, we were priviledge to forge our way to work on snow, slushy roads, with some ice under from freezing left over rain puddles.

St. Patty's a wee bit late...

I'M KEEPING THE TRADITION ALIVE! I love the corned beef meal Mom ALWAYS fixed on St. Patrick's Day. Last year (also my first at preparing it all) I went all out with the cabbage in the colecannon and the extra cabbage on the side - will not go all out with the Irish soda bread *eek* - and ate 4 hours after getting home from work. This year, I simplified - plus, Bryce didn't like the colecannon b/c it had cabbage in it - and did the meat in a crock pot (definitely the way to go) and came home to only mashing potatoes. I also did the Irish cookies! Still really delicious and so much easier for only 2 people. i was excited to have corned beef sandwiches for lunch the next day or two, but we ate all the meat. All that's left is a bit of mashed potatoes. Thanks Mom for starting this awesome traditional meal! A belated Happy Saint Patrick's Day!!! (oh, as a side note, we did both remember to wear green and Bryce went all out with a green on green striped shirt. I'm so proud of him.)

"It's got Turbo - that's all I care about!"

The big news for this week comes with Bryce's birthday. Yes, he's over 30 now, that's not the big news. We got a new car! We're letting him think it's his birthday present. I don't want to talk about it too much, but I do think it was a decent deal (they're not giving away the nicer cars just yet) and it will be good for us to have a 4-door wagon. Yes, that's right. We went from a 2-door sports car to a 4-door wagon. Departing from the RSX type S was sad in its own ways. It's been a fun car to have and drive and treated us well. I guess we treated it well too. It's a 2002 and had 39,540 miles on it when we traded it in. Pretty impressive. It took him 5 years to hit 22,000 (can we say hermit?) and since moving to Georgia and most recently carpooling to Atlanta every day (100 mile round trip) we were well on our way to matching his 5 year efforts in 1 1/2 yrs. :)
Goodbye Batmobile.
So, onto the new wagon. It gives us 4 doors and makes it much eaiser for large adults to enter and exit the vehicle also giving more head and foot room. Plus, we hope to be needing it in the somewhat near future - this is not an announcement. Let's stay focused. :) I was ok with the car at the dealership but not super impressed - until it was my turn to drive it. I drove it around the parking lot after Bryce did the initial test driving on the road ways. I found a kind of long somewhat empty area of the dealer's parking lot and started through the gears. I put it in 2nd and gave it just a little gas and that's when I felt the power of the beast. So I pushed more. The sensation of just going and the smoothness of it all was very impressive, and I was only in 2nd! "This is beautiful - I want it!" That was Bryce's favorite quote of the night from me. My favorite quote from him is also rightfully the title of this post. As a side note, the carpool passengers did appreciate the space to and from work on Friday. Please enjoy the pictures.

Yes, I took this picture and that's Bryce driving it :) It's been raining and supposed to continue raining, so we'll get it out and take a pretty picture after the rain ends.

Bryce loves the auto windshield wipers, the lighting on the dash and the xenon HID head lights/LED tail lights..oh yeah, and the TURBO!

Blah, Blah, Blah

I feel like my blog is pretty boring. It's ok though, I don't really expect people to get much entertainment value out of it, just updates in our repetitious life. I was unloading my camera and found another video of Jamba and also realized that I have not shared the newest purchase of ours - a little dinet set. Be entertained. Only the first 20 seconds is worth anything in this video and don't worry - we did disinfect the spout.

We found the table and chairs on pretty decent sale and the quality is much better than what we had been seeing so we snatched 'em while they were hot. I just realized that sentence kind of made it sound like we got them hot, like stolen or on the black market. Be assured, I do not shop those sales. :) Jamba also loved my tulips. In a matter of a few days the leaves were pretty much shredded and then eaten. Luckily, I was able to enjoy the flowers for a week before throwing them away. I will say that I knew before bringing the flowers home that the green foliage would not last long. Anything green and growing will be attacked by Jamba. She is a freak for some lettuce and spinach, grass, and now tulip leaves. Mmmmm. What a healthy cat!

I found it! The solution to my storage.

OXO POP CONTAINERS
I received some canisters to store noodles, flour, ect in for our wedding but I never liked the style of them, and the lids weren't very tightly sealed so I decided to give them up and thought it really would be a good thing to have something to store flour, sugar, spaghetti, crackers, etc in that would keep them fresh longer than opened bags and boxes. So, I've been looking. I found some neat black miller's pots, isn't that what they're called...maybe that's the wrong word, with the clamp closures on them. I have since decided that I really didn't want them out on my counter so I don't need something so pretty. I discovered these awesome little storage containers. They look nice and will pack and stack nicely in my cupboard. I'm excited to buy them! They've got the neatest button closure too. Check it out in action here. I found them at Crate and Barrel, but it looks like Bed, Bath, & Beyond as well as Linens and things sell them too. They're by OXO.

Fun with Jamba

Jamba always finds something to make us think once again that we are lucky we got her for our pet instead of another sad, homeless kitten. She loves to knock things off counters, cell phones, tupperware, papers...don't leave them on the counter. It's the same thing with the garbage disposal. If you put something in or near the sink she will put it down the garbage disposal, but only after playing with it. :) Here's an example with some ice I threw in the sink to melt there instead of on the floor. The good stuff's toward the middle when she gets fast. This will ususally go on for a while and then once the item is down the garbage disposal she sits at the edge of the sink and just stares. Literally for an hour or more, she will sit looking down the sink. She also tried to stow away to Utah with us, but I caught her trying to hide in Bryce's carry on. I apologize again for the crazy eyes...cats are not made for flash photography.

Scored a couple deals

I stopped into Ross and T.J. Maxx and bought some $80 Steve Madden shoes for $20 and some Rampage shoes for $8.49. that's right. $8.50. And you know they're super cute. I also bought a leopard scarf just for for some punch. I think I like scarves...
I also bought a cute navy jumper dress with satin at the hem and around the neck. It's belted and super cute. Of course I wore it to church today with my cute new black shoes!
